Introduction

This tutorial will acquaint you with the history of Iqaluit. Until recently Iqaluit was known as Frobisher Bay, a name chosen by the southerners who settled in the area. The recent history, which is the story of the development of the first modern town in the eastern Arctic, encompasses a span of slighly more than 50 years. However the original occupants of the area can trace their roots back to 2000 BC. Iqaluit has been occupied almost continuously for the past 4000 years by the Inuit and their ancestors.

This tutorial will introduce you to this history.
