On July 4 Joamie School was destroyed by fire. With the help of the GN's Department of Education, the IDEA and other schools in the community classes were able to start in September at the scheduled time. Most classes and the administrative office is  housed in Nakasuk School. One grade 5 class is using an empty classroom at Trois Soleils School and the transition grade 4/5 from both Joamie and Nakasuk has moved to Aqsarniit Middle School early. It is anticipated that the replacement school, to be built on the Joamie site will be ready for school in September of 2005.
